WJTA’s Inaugural Golf Tournament a Success
On October 28, WJTA hosted its first-ever golf tournament at the beautiful Wildcat Golf Club in Houston, Texas. The event brought together 34 teams along with sponsors and visitors for a day of friendly competition in support of a great cause.
Proceeds from the event benefited the WJTA Student Scholarship fund, which awards up to twelve scholarships annually to WJTA members and their spouses, dependents and grandchildren. Since the program was launched in 2022, nearly $63,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
The event drew heavily from the Houston area but included many teams flying in from around the country to socialize and network. Ultimately, the USA DeBusk team captured first prize.
Cooking sponsors SPIR STAR and USA DeBusk brought out their grills to provide food for players on course, and several additional tent sponsors offered giveaways, beverages and more.
Jetstream of Houston added to the excitement of the WJTA’s first golf tournament with a hole-in-one contest to win a 40k hydroblast pump. NLB Corp. offered an additional hole-in-one opportunity with a $100,000 cash prize. Several golfers came close, but ultimately both prizes went unclaimed.
The association thanks all the sponsors and participants for making the inaugural golf tournament a resounding success. Special thanks to WJTA board members Richard Bass and Dee Green for leading the effort to organize the new event along with the team from USA DeBusk for their support with the arrangements and volunteers.
WJTA tentatively plans to hold its next tournament for 2026. Dates and location will be announced.
